Ms Brodie Cambourne
M Sc Exercise Science (Hons) B Sc (Anatomy/ physiology)
Ms Brodie Cambourne is an Exercise Physiologist who has worked with children for 16 years. Brodie started a children’s gym 16 years as an Exercise Physiologist. During this time Brodie completed a Masters degree in Exercise Science and developed the FITERACY learning framework as part of this study.
Through her studies Brodie discovered the importance of parental/ carer involvement in their children's physical activity development.
Brodie has been developing methods for using literacy and music as methods for children and their parents to feel connected to a team and then developing the motivation to become physically active with their team mates.
Over the past 10 years Brodie has ben running programs that promote parents as their child's greatest teacher and has spent the last 6 years studying the amazing world of baby brain development.
Through her physiology background Brodie has been able to research the physiology behind brain development and the activities that stimulate brain development in babies and attachment to their care givers.
Brodie has more recently been presenting at both international and national conferences in the area of infant mental health and the positive effects the Bootkidz program activities and the FITERACY learning framework can have on the future health of children.
Brodie and Kidfit have been contracted on a number of national initiatives to promote healthy activities for parents and their children and works alongside partners such as Boystown Communities for Children.
Other national programs that Brodie has been involved in developing in include the Walk to School program and the more recently the Gundoo Bubby Flats indigenous baby band program.
Brodie is passionate about community development and volunteers time to assist programs such as the Nighteyes Juniors Environmental Athletes program, Baby Band GIGS at local nursing homes, the Baby Brigade Walking Groups and runs Baby Art Auctions to raise money for local organisations.
