What is the FITERACY Framework?

 

FITERACY™ is a  learning framework which looks at how to set up LOW ANXIETY and optimal learning environments for children and their parents


FITERACY™ is an eight-step learning framework that is built into all Kidfit prorgams and is used to show parents and carers that they very influential when teaching children new skills.

FITERACY™ can be used to assist with teaching Literacy, music, creativity and all health programs.

It has been developed from Prof Brian Cambourne's constructive learning theories for language and literacy and is used all over the world.

How can you use the FITERACY™ Framework?

If learning a new task is creating ANXIETY, use the checklist below to see if you are doing the following things to assist with ENGAGING your child..

FITERACY™ is currently being developed into a book as a resource for parents, teachers and the fitness industry as a 'how to' guide for creating a 'FITERATE' society in Australia

Fascinate and Demonstrate
Do you fascinate and demonstrate the activity to your child?
I Immerse
Is your child immersed or " soaked" in the purpose of the activity through talking about the activity and where it can be used?
T Train and Practice
Are you providing consistant opportunities for your child to practice small steps with and without you
E Expectation
Do you expect your child to have a go at "learning" the activity, rather than being successful straight out? Success will come through small consistant steps
R Responsibility and Choice
Are you offering your child a choice to take some responsibility with their learning by providing a numbers of methods for being engaged? Clapping, Counting Copying .

Approximate
Do you allow your child to learn through play and approximation where they can experience some trial and error attempts? Babbling whilst talking is an example of approximating with language

Connect
Have you demonstrated or talked about the purpose of the activity to your child?

Are you providing timely and appropriate response when your child attempts an activity? .
